How much does website design cost?
Between AU$990 and AU$2970 for design plus a range of costs for other products and services including logo design, domain name registration, web hosting, content management system (CMS) set-up and use, website maintenance and search engine optimisation (SEO), depending on what you need. See Rates.
Do you charge for initial consultation or quotation?
JB Web Design does not provide a fixed-price quotation until website requirements have been decided in detail. There is no charge for initial consultation. Simple quotations are free, and a minimal charge applies for detailed quotations, including those for full website design projects. See Rates.
How does remote consultation work?
You enquire by telephone, email, web chat or video chat, and can arrange times with JB Web Design for longer interactions using the same forms of communication. You provide material for your website, such as text, photos, logos and videos, by email or via a secure web upload link that JB Web Design can show you how to use. You receive images of design progress by email or secure download link, and view a password-protected prototype of your website online using supplied login details. And JB Web Design can supply general and personalised written and video instructions for your use of the website and its content management system (CMS) where applicable.
What if I need you to help me with something on my computer?
JB Web Design's personalised video training shows you how to use a web-based content management system (CMS) as it will appear on your computer, and can also explain other aspects of your website by video. In the unlikely event that you need guidance to occur on your computer screen, JB Web Design can use an online process involving your temporary authorisation to access your computer using remote login software.
How long does website design take?
A minimum of one month, depending on the project size. Clients can help ensure an efficient turn-around by fully following JB Web Design's website design process and providing materials and answers to questions as quickly as possible when asked.
Can you use my existing logo in a design?
Yes. It will help JB Web Design reproduce your logo if you supply all available computer files.

Do you redesign websites?
Where "redesign" means using or modifying the computer code of an existing website by another designer, no. Where it means doing the same but for an existing website designed by JB Web Design, yes. And where it means starting a new design that draws upon some of the design and content or ideas of an existing website by another designer, strictly without violating copyright, yes.
What if I need a photographer?
If you need photography for website images, JB Web Design may be able to subcontract a professional photographer in your area for work to be included in your contract price.
What should I do to help ensure my web content will be allowed?
You must vouch that supplied material does not invade privacy, violate copyrights or confidentiality, break any applicable law, nor defame, threaten or harass, nor communicate hatred, and does not feature swearing, obscenity, nudity, or false or misleading claims.
Which copyrights belong to JB Web Design and which to the client?
In summary, JB Web Design:
- Retains rights to the preservation of a website's design and associated computer code and forbids their use elsewhere;
- Grants the client rights to use but not modify the website's logo and non-text content such as photographs elsewhere, except where pre-existing copyrights or licensing forbid it;
- Grants the client rights to use and modify the website's text content on the website and elsewhere, except where pre-existing copyrights or licensing forbid it;
- Preserves the client's existing rights to supplied design and content elements;
- Protects the rights of copyrighted and licensed elements supplied by third parties.

Can I change my JB Web Design-designed website myself?
Yes, but with some restrictions that are based on JB Web Design's quality standards as well as copyright, intellectual property, licensing and other legal considerations.
In summary, the client may edit text and other content using a content management system (CMS) or may edit the HTML to the extent required to update content for use in existing or additional pages of the same website without changing the website's design.

Can JB Web Design maintain and update my website for me?
JB Web Design's preferred approach to content management is to introduce clients to a web-based content management system (CMS).
However, JB Web Design can otherwise perform website updates at an hourly rate. Availability to perform updates may be limited to set periods of time each week. See Rates.
